 오늘은 Hawkesbury에서 Metropolitan경마가 진행되었다.

Sydney Carnival기간이 끝나고 토요일에 시드니 인근이 아닌 Hawkesbury에서 Metropolitan 경마대회를 개최하는 건 아마도 지역적인 배려가 아닌가 싶다.

Hawkesbury Race Club에서는 1년중 가장 큰 경마가 열리는 날로 이날 관중도 평소보다 아주 많았다.

아마도 이 지역에서 이렇게 큰 경마대회가 열리는 게 지역적인 축제로 여겨지기 때문에 이곳 사람들도 옷을 차려입고 경마장으로 나오는 것 같았다.

 

 마권을 파는 창구가 오래된 그림으로 장식되어 있다.

 

 1871년부터 위원회 멤버들의 이름이 명기되어 있다. 클럽의 역사를 보여주고 있다.

우승마의 기수인터뷰를 경주직후 주로에서 바로 한다.

 

1경주에서는 결승선 전방 50m지점에서 주행방해 상황이 발생하여 기수에게 기승정지 처분을 하였다. 우승마 기수가 말이 외사하는 것을 막지 않고 계속 추진을 하다가 후속하는 말에게 방해를 하였다.

A Gibbons, rider of the winner, Petrify, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding for permitting his mount, which was inclined to lay in, to shift in approaching the 50m whilst riding it along, resulting in Lamartine being checked and losing its rightful running when taken towards the heels of Double Halo. A Gibbons’ licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Tuesday, 7 May 2013 and to expire on Thursday, 16 May 2013, on which day he may ride. In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account that A Gibbons has had over 900 race rides since his last suspension.

 

마지막 경주에서는 경주 초반 선두로 나선 두마리 마필이 결승선에서 많이 뒤쳐진 것에 대해 두 기수 모두에게 페이스 조절에 대해 주의하도록 경고를 하였다. 심의결과 두 기수 모두 조교사의 작전지시를 따랐고 말들의 speedmap이 선행마였기 때문에 특별한 제재는 하지 않았다.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of McClintock, App. R Murray stated her instructions had been to lead, as this has been the most successful tactic adopted on the gelding. She added today, when Riomoral drawn to her inside was also ridden to lead, she had to make extra use of the gelding in order to cross that runner and comply with her instructions, which resulted in McClintock setting a very fast early sectional, resulting in both leaders compounding in the straight. Trainer Mr M de Montfort confirmed the instructions and concurred that McClintock is best advantaged when able to dictate terms uncontested. A post-race veterinary examination of McClintock did not reveal any abnormalities. B Vassallo, rider of Riomoral, was also questioned regarding his tactics and the fast early sectionals. He stated he had been instructed to lead from his wide barrier and, in anticipating McClintock would also be going forward, he maintained his position inside that runner approaching the first turn near the 1000m, in order that it not obtain an easy lead. Both B Vassallo and App. R Murray were advised that, in the opinion of the Stewards, in the circumstances where the early sectionals were very fast (first 600m in 35 seconds) they should have exercised better judgment in order that their mounts were given every possible chance to finish their races off.
