오늘은 1학기 수업 중 마지막 경마일이었다.
출발지점까지 유도마가 고삐를 잡고 같이 가는 장면, 우리나라와 틀린 점은 고삐끈을 연결하지 않고 바로 rein을 잡고 유도한다는 것.
심의장면
이날 기온이 37도까지 올라가는 고온의 날씨, 수의수석이 직접 날씨상황과 그날 문제가 있었던 경주마에 대해 기록해 Steward에게 보고한다.
예시장에서 예시를 하고 있는 모습, 이곳에서는 예시를 할때 말을 유도하는 사람의 복장이 자유롭다. 이 여성도 짧은 치마에 캐주얼화를 신고 예시를 하고 있다.
경주 종료 후 맥주한잔 중
오늘은 1st semester에서 마지막 경마일이다. Warwick Farm에서 경마가 있던 날이었다.
이날 날씨가 이번 여름들어 가장 더운 날씨였다. Warwick Farm은 37도까지 올라갔으며 Richmond 지역은 40도가 넘는 날씨였다.
Steward들은 대부분 현장 또는 타워에서 근무를 하기 때문에 더위를 고스란히 느끼면서 근무를 해야 했다.
나도 물은 한 4통은 먹으면서 근무를 했던 것 같다.
2경주에서는 특이한 사안에 대해 심의를 하였다.
경주 동영상 관찰 중 선두마의 습보상태를 관찰하던 중 왼 앞다리가 외전을 하며 달리는 모습을 확인하였다.
이에 대해 수의위원과 면밀하게 관찰하고 논의를 나눈 후 기수와 조교사를 인터뷰했다. 그리고 이러한 보행습성이 경주 중 다른 말들을 위험하게 할 수 있으니 다음번 출주전에 Steward와 다시 면담할 것을 지시했다.
이에 대해 질문을 해보니 이곳에서는 이렇게 앞다리를 외전하면서 달리는 말에 대해 조치를 취한다고 한다.
물론 말의 다리모양이나 발굽각도에 따라 이런 현상이 나타나기도 하고 고쳐지기도 하지만 이곳에서는 이런 세밀한 것까지 신경을 쓰며 심의를 보고 있다.
이렇게 할 수 있는 이유 중 하나는 큰 스크린 2개만을 이용해 확대해서 경주를 관찰하여 이런 동작까지 체크할 수 있지 않나 싶다.
Rider J Parr and trainer’s representative Ms C Cunningham were interviewed relative to the near foreleg action of Office Bearer, particularly in the run to the first turn when the colt was leading with its near foreleg. The Club's Veterinary Officer reported there was a marked lateral deviation in the forward phase of the swing. Ms Cunningham was advised that the Stewards had concerns that the action may present a danger to Office Bearer and to other runners in a race. Trainer Mr P Moody will be provided with the Stewards’ patrol footage of the race and interviewed prior to the colt’s next engagement on a clockwise track.
6경주에서는 protest에 대해 심의를 하였다. 결승선 직선주로에서의 상황이었는데 심의결과 가해마와 피해마 앞 공간이 두마리에게 모두 열려있는 공간이라고 판단되어 가해마가 준 피해상황이 인정이 안되어 dismissed 되었다.
On return to scale a protest was lodged by B Shinn, rider of third placegetter, Mr Edison, against Circle Of Power being declared the winner on the grounds of interference near the 150m. After taking evidence from the parties concerned and viewing the videos, the Stewards found that passing the 200m Mr Edison was angled to the inside of the heels of Too Hi Tek in an endeavour to improve between Too Hi Tek and Bledisloe, but Circle Of Power, which was racing on the back of Bledisloe, shifted out and secured that position. This resulted in Mr Edison having to come off the heels of Too Hi Tek and alter course to the outside of that horse to continue its run. Accordingly, as the Stewards were satisfied that the run between Too Hi Tek and Bledisloe was open to either rider, the protest was dismissed.
