Poor Post Race Recovery

 

나는 이 용어를 듣고 처음에는 경주 후 부상이나 상태가 심하여 경주로 복귀하기가 어려운 말에 사용하는 용어인줄 알았다.

하지만 이 말들에 대해 Vet Certificate만 요구하는 걸 보니 그렇게 심하게 다친것 같진 않았다.

그래서 물어보았더니 이는 경주 후 수의위원이 해당 마필의 심박수를 체크하여 일정수준 이하로 떨어지지 않는 말에 대해 사용하는 용어였다.

이곳 호주에서는 경주 후 마체검사를 파행에만 국한하지 않고 호흡, 심박수를 반드시 체크한다.

만약 호흡수나 심박수가 일정수준 이하로 떨어지지 않으면 poor post race recovery로 지정하여 Steward에게 보고한다.

 

우리나라에서도 경주 후 마체검사에 대해 강화할 필요가 있을 듯 하다.

 

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of Foxbat, H. Bowman stated that although he rode the gelding positively out of the barriers, when Long Shadow and Zinedine kicked up inside him, he felt that he would have had to make too much use of Foxbat to ride forward and lead. He added that although obliged therefore to race wide, Foxbat travelled well, however when asked for an effort approaching the home turn, it did not respond to his riding and was disappointing in its failure to finish the race off. A post race veterinary examination of Foxbat revealed a poor post race recovery and a laceration to the outside of its off fore pastern. Trainer Mr C Waller could offer no tangible excuse and agreed that the gelding was disappointing. He stated he will report back to the Stewards the results of a full veterinary examination including an ECG. The inquiry was adjourned pending those results, including a determination as to whether Foxbat would be required to trial before its next start.
