The 2012 Caulfield Cup has been won by Dunaden at Caulfield Racecourse today October 20, 2012.
Dunaden out-stayed what was arguably the best Caulfield Cup field in recent history to win the $2.5 million race by a neck.
Glencadam Gold shot across the track to take the lead early from his wide barrier of 17, while Voila Ici settled a close second.
Dunaden settled towards the rear of the field from gate 18 and made his swooping run down the outside in the final stages of the 2012 Caulfield Cup.
The Nicobar entire has now won all of his three race starts in Australia and will now go on towards the $6 million Melbourne Cup at Flemington on November 6, 2012.

Runner-up trainer Jake Stephens was full of pride for the eight-year-old gelding.
“When he hit the front there I thought ‘ooh can he hang on?” Stephens said.
“Obviously Dunaden’s a world class horse.
“(It was) just a phenomenal run.”
Lights Of Heaven finished third in the 2012 Caulfield Cup, while Americain passed the post in fourth position.
Craig Williams was the jockey who guided Dunaden to his 2012 Caulfield Cup win in Melbourne today.
“It’s just very enjoyable, there’s nothing better than winning races like this,” Williams said.
“This horse’s story’s amazing.
“For me I’m just very fortunate that I have a great affinity with this horse.”
