오늘은 Canterbury Racecourse에서 주간경마가 있는 날이다.

Carnival 기간이 끝나고 당분간 수요일은 Canterbury 경마장에서 주간경마가 시행되고 있다.

Guideline of Whip Rule Breaches

 

지난주 토요일에 뉴질랜드에서 온 A. Collett이 채찍규정을 위반하여 이에 대한 심의가 있었다.

호주에서는 400m지점부터 100m지점까지 연속해서 채찍을 사용해서는 안되며 최대 5번까지 사용할 수 있다. 이때 채찍을 포핸드로 사용한 것만 카운트한다.

관련규정은 아래와 같다.

(5) Subject to the other requirements of this rule:
(a) In a race, official trial or jump-out prior to the 100 metre mark;
(i) The whip shall not be used in a forehand manner in consecutive strides.
(ii) The whip shall not be used in a forehand manner more than on 5 occasions.
(iii) The rider may at his discretion use the whip with a slapping motion down the shoulder, with the whip hand remaining on the reins, or alternatively in a backhand manner.
(b) In the final 100 metres of a race, official trial or jump-out a rider may use his whip at his discretion

 

해당 기수는 연속해서 12번을 사용하였고 총 14번을 사용하였다.

뉴질랜드에서는 채찍규정이 호주와 달라 착각을 하였고 또한 수습기수여서 경험이 부족해서 그런 것 같다고 진술하였다.

연속채찍에 대해서는 견책, 총 횟수에 대해서는 기승정지 1주일에 처분하였다.

Apprentice A Collett, rider of second placegetter Double Halo, pleaded guilty to a charge under (5)(a)(i) of having used the whip in a forehand manner on 12 successive occasions prior to the 100m. Apprentice Collett was reprimanded. Apprentice Collett also pleaded guilty to a charge under AR137A(5)(a)(ii) in that she used the whip on 14 occasions in a forehand manner prior to 100m, 9 more than permitted under the rule, apprentice Collett's permit to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Sunday 12th May 2013 and to expire on Sunday 19th May 2013 on which day she may ride.

 

오늘은 일부터 수의사가 경주 후 마체검사를 하는 모습을 관찰하였다.

이곳에서는 경주 후 마체검사를 하마대에서 실시하지 않고 우리나라의 출주대기마사 개념인 yard에서 한다.

그래서 경주 후 약 5분 정도 경과한 후 마체검사를 실시하여 좀 더 정확한 검사가 가능한 것 같다.

또한 이곳에서는 파행검사는 기본이고 심박수와 호흡수를 체크한다.

경주 후 일정시간이 경과하면 보통 심박수는 분당 100회 이하로 떨어지지만 심박수가 130회 이상을 유지하게 되면 Poor Postrace Recovery로 진단한다.

이런 마필은 Steward에게 보고되며 Report에만 기술된다.

심박수를 체크하는 이유 중 하나는 Arrhythmia를 확인하기 위함이다. 보통 부정맥의 원인은 atrial fibrillation이라고 한다. 경주후 마체검사 결과 Arrhythmia로 진단되면 해당 마필은 이후 다시 경주에 출전하기 위해서는 trademill검사와 ECG검사를 의무적으로 받고, Barrier Trail을 통과해야 경주에 출전할 수 있다. 가끔 경주 중 급성심박정지로 사고가 일어나는 이유가 보통 심혈관계질환이 있는 마필이라는 점에서 이런 검사가 반드시 필요하다.

Steward에게도 경주 후 경주능력부진마에 대한 원인을 찾는데 심박수 검사결과가 아주 좋은 방법 중 하나이다.
