Steward가 말의 경주능력부진에 대해 심의할 때 기수나 조교사가 자주 말하는 문구이다.

자신들이 보기에는 특별한 이상이 없고 말 상태도 괜찮았는데 성적이 저조하였고 자신들도 특별한 원인을 말하지 못하는 경우에 그 말은 경주를 뛴 준비가 되어 있는 말이었다라고 진술을 자주하는 것을 볼 수 있다.

 

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of Sadler’s Wish, App. J. Duggan stated that her mount jumped a little awkwardly but then travelled well in the race, albeit in a rearward position. She added that leaving the 500m, she commenced to place Sadler’s Wish under pressure to improve around Sindarin, however her mount did not respond to her riding and was disappointing in its failure to run on from that point. She added the only explanation she could offer for the disappointing performance was that the mare may have come to the end of its preparation. A post race veterinary examination of Sadler’s Wish revealed the mare to have a poor post race recovery. Trainer Mr M. Quinn stated that Sadler’s Wish had pleased the stable since its last start win at Canterbury on 25 January 2013 and in particular had worked strongly in the gallop on Tuesday morning. He added that Sadler’s Wish had floated down well to the course and he could offer no explanation other than the mare may have come to the end of its preparation. Mr Quinn advised stewards it is now his intention to spell Sadler’s Wish and undertook to report back if anything was amiss with the mare subsequent to the race.
